According to court records, a Houston firefighter accused of recording a 14-year-old girl in the shower has been released on bond. The records also indicate that additional child pornography was discovered on the firefighter’s phone after he consented to a police officer’s search.
Houston Fire Department Chief Sam Peña confirmed that the firefighter, identified as 47-year-old Kenneth Zink, had served with the department for 21 years. Zink was stationed at station 99 near Bush Intercontinental Airport, as per a financial affidavit.
Allegedly, Zink admitted to the crime when confronted and allowed an officer to search his phone, where multiple videos of the 14-year-old and other instances of child pornography were discovered, including footage involving a young girl around 7 years old engaging in sexual activity with an adult male.
Peña stated that Zink would be reassigned from his current duties and placed on administrative status while the department initiates an administrative investigation.
“If the allegations against the employee are proven to be true, they do not align with the values of the Houston Fire Department, and they do not represent the dedication and hard work exhibited by the thousands of firefighters who serve diligently every day,” Peña expressed.
Zink’s court records indicate that he resides with his wife and a 10-year-old child. As part of his bond conditions, he is prohibited from having contact with any minor under 17 years of age unless otherwise permitted by the court.
