Authorities in Houston are seeking three suspects in connection with a fatal home invasion in southwest Houston, where a man was shot to death in front of his wife and two children Sunday morning.
The tragic incident unfolded in the 5300 block of Castlecreek Lane. According to officials, the suspects forcibly entered the residence through a side door near the driveway around 2:30 a.m., causing a disturbance that drew the attention of the homeowner.
Houston Police Department stated that there were no indications of stolen property during the invasion. The victim, sensing danger, instructed his wife to take cover in their bedroom before confronting the suspects. Tragically, he was shot by one of the intruders and succumbed to his injuries in the hallway.
A young woman, identified as the victim’s stepdaughter, spoke with off-camera and requested that the victim remain unnamed due to relatives in Cuba who have yet to be informed of his passing. She disclosed that she was not present during the incident, but the victim’s 5-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son witnessed their father’s shooting.
Family members, who arrived later at the scene, declined on-camera interviews but shared with that the victim, aged in his mid-30s, was not involved in any disputes with others. They confirmed that the victim’s wife and children were unharmed but deeply distressed.
Detective David Higgs from HPD revealed that multiple shell casings from potentially two different firearms were discovered at the scene. He described the situation as highly traumatic for the family and emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated.
