Following his arrest on a family violence charge in mid-February, Stephen Smart, an employee with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, has been placed on unpaid suspension.
Smart was apprehended on Wednesday, Feb. 14, after investigators responded to a local high school regarding a child making an outcry about physical abuse.
The sheriff’s office noted that authorities secured a warrant for Smart’s arrest during the investigation, and he was taken into custody.
Booking records indicate that Smart was released the following day.
