There wasn’t a dry eye in the room at Children’s Health on Wednesday as a North Texas teen, 17-year-old Sebastian Hernandez, met the man, 20-year-old Zach Warter, who saved his life through a bone marrow donation.
Hernandez, now cancer-free after battling a life-threatening form of leukemia, and Warter met more than a year after the transplant in a reunion arranged by the hospital in honor of National Donor Day.
The emotional encounter was marked by hugs and gratitude, emphasizing the impact of bone marrow donation in providing a second chance at life.
