The community continued to mourn on Tuesday for the North Texas mother and daughter who tragically lost their lives in a highway accident in West Texas over the weekend.
Hannah McDaniel, the daughter, was a senior at Pantego Christian Academy, while her mother, Brandi McDaniel, taught at Accommodated Learning Academy in Grapevine. Classes were canceled on Monday following the incident, but they resumed on Tuesday with a memorial service to honor Brandi’s life.
Principal Melissa McGowan, a close friend of Brandi McDaniel for 25 years, led the memorial service, where attendees wore Mickey Mouse ears as a tribute to Brandi’s love for Disney.
During the service, students paid tribute to Brandi McDaniel, reflecting on her love, dedication, and commitment to them every day.
The tragic accident occurred while the family was returning from a basketball tournament in Lubbock. Mark McDaniel, Hannah’s husband and a pastor at New Hope Community Church in Venus, Texas, survived the accident and attended the memorial service on Tuesday, finding solace in the outpouring of love and support from the staff.
The community, including Pantego Christian Academy, expressed their grief through flowers and balloons left in honor of Hannah. Mark McDaniel expressed gratitude for the love and encouragement received during such a challenging time, finding hope in the gestures of support.
Plans are underway to establish scholarships in Hannah’s name, ensuring that she is remembered and honored for years to come. Brandi McDaniel’s impact on the school and the lives she touched will always be cherished.
The accident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon on I-20 near Big Spring, Texas, remains under investigation.
