Police in Pearland, Texas, have confirmed the arrest of at least five individuals suspected of engaging in organized criminal activity related to jugging across the Pearland area.
The apprehended suspects include Dennerick Crew, aged 33, Damien West, aged 19, Darise Booker, aged 29, Howard Glaze, aged 31, and Christopher Eugene, aged 19, all of whom hail from the Houston area.
Jugging, a term used by law enforcement to describe crimes where victims are followed from banks or stores and subsequently robbed or burglarized, has been the focus of the suspects’ activities.
These criminal acts have primarily targeted individuals over the age of 65, with victims being followed from banking establishments to other locations before being attacked and robbed.
In response to these incidents, Pearland police have emphasized the importance of vigilance and awareness of one’s surroundings, advising individuals to have a plan upon leaving such establishments and to avoid carrying large sums of cash in plain sight.
