In Crosby, Texas (KTRK), the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has stated that a grand jury will determine the fate of a suspect accused of fatally shooting a teenager during an online sale meet-up.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday at a Shell gas station located on the 13200 block of Crosby-Lynchburg. HSCO patrol units responded to a reported shooting and discovered a 17-year-old in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. The teenager was airlifted to the hospital via Life Flight but was later pronounced dead.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a preliminary investigation revealed that the meeting between the two individuals was intended to finalize an online sale. Allegedly, the teenager attempted to rob the seller, prompting the man to open fire.
The suspected shooter remained at the scene and informed officers that he was attempting to sell the 17-year-old a pistol when the teenager attempted to steal the firearm.
Law enforcement officials interviewed the suspect and reviewed video surveillance footage of the incident. The case is currently being referred to a grand jury for possible charges.
The identity of the teenager has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin. Investigators believe that the teenager arrived at the gas station with another unidentified individual.
