Dallas Police have released surveillance footage of a shooting that occurred just days after Christmas, resulting in two men being killed. The incident, classified as a capital murder case, took place in Pleasant Grove at a strip shopping center around 9 a.m. on December 27.
The surveillance video shows a red Nissan Sentra entering the parking lot at the 9500 block of Scyene Road. Two men are observed standing on the sidewalk, engaged in conversation, when four suspects exit the car and open fire. The victims, 22-year-old Jamarcus Irving and 51-year-old Morland Smith, lost their lives in the attack.
Stephanie Sharpe, Smith’s sister, spoke over the phone, expressing fear that her brother’s killers are still at large. Smith was an innocent bystander, merely there to grab breakfast that morning. The surveillance footage reveals at least one of the shooters wielding a semi-automatic rifle.
Sharpe described the chaos during the incident, with people ducking and diving for cover. A memorial has since grown at the location where the men were gunned down. Smith’s memorial service is scheduled for the upcoming week, and his family hopes for justice.
Dallas Police are seeking information from the public and have established a $5,000 Crimestoppers reward for any valuable leads. Sharpe emphasizes the importance of someone coming forward, stating, “Somebody knows something. That is somebody’s friend, that is somebody’s child. Somebody knows something.”
