HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — After a damp and dreary Saturday. drier air will slowly settle in Saturday night which will help take some of the humidity from the air. But we’ll keep things a bit cloudy again on Sunday with morning lows starting in the upper 40s or low 50s and afternoon highs near 70 degrees. We should see a few peaks of sunshine before sunset though with more clearing to start the new week.
How is the first week of December looking?
Actually it’s looking quite nice! After a stormy start to the month, we’ve entered a drier stretch that could last all the way through next Friday. And while this weekend is a bit cloudy and damp, more sunshine is expected as we head into the new week.
I missed out on the soaking rains for the storms last week. When will the rain return?
By next weekend we’ll see enough moisture back to bring rain back into the forecast. And while it’s still over a week away, forecast models are showing the next potential rainy weather system entering the region for next weekend. While that wouldn’t be the best timing, we could use some rain after an almost week-long dry spell.
Wait, did y’all say winter has begun?
Of sorts, yes! Meteorological Winter began at Midnight on December 1st. We differentiate meteorological seasons vs astronomical seasons to help us organize weather data since the start of each astronomical season can vary each year by time and date. So meteorological seasons will always begin on the first of the month when there’s either an equinox (fall or spring) or solstice (winter or summer). This year Astronomical Winter begins on Thursday, December 21st at 9:27 p.m.
