LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) failed to clarify its position over a video — featuring its officials in a casino in Colombo — doing rounds on social media late on Saturday.
A number of PCB officials, including the board’s interim Management Committee chairman Zaka Ashraf, are in the Sri Lankan capital nowadays for the ongoing Asia Cup, of which Pakistan are the co-hosts along with the island country.
Zaka did not respond to a query sent to him by Dawn on Sunday to provide his position about the video in question, in which the PCB’s media director Umar Farooq Kalson, and general manager of international cricket Adnan Ali are seen.
Umar told Dawn that he was “there for dinner” while also claiming that the video “was edited”.
A similar case arose in 2015 when Pakistan’s chief selector-cum-team manager Moin Khan was seen in a casino in a viral video on the sidelines of the World Cup in Christchurch.
The then PCB chief Shaharyar Khan called the former captain back to Pakistan before sacking him later.
