Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Nazeer Tarar, has stated that legal action is being taken against individuals involved in the events of May 9. He explicitly stated that the lists of Overseas Pakistanis have not been prepared, nor will they undergo scanning procedures upon their return to the country at the airport. No such action is being taken. These views were expressed by him as a special guest during a workshop organized by the Pakistani American Press Association during his visit to the United States.
According to details, a workshop was organized under the auspices of the Pakistani American Press Association, with the aim of discussing the current political and legal situation in Pakistan and its impact on the Pakistani economy. Prominent personalities and journalists from the community, including Pakistan’s Ambassador Masood Khan and President of Muslims of America, Sajid Tarar, also expressed their opinions. Nazeer Tarar, Pakistan’s Minister for Law and Justice, stated that Overseas Pakistanis are close to our hearts, and we cannot even think of taking action against them. He said that today’s workshop aimed to eliminate concerns and doubts among the Pakistani community in North America. He said that everyone is aware of those involved in the events of May 9, and only legal action will be taken against them. There is no need for others to worry. He stated that Overseas Pakistanis are connected to their homeland, and you have a significant role in the progress and happiness of Pakistan. Our relationship with you will remain constant, just as it is now. Sajid Tarar, President of Muslims of America, said on this occasion that the preparation of a list of 400 Overseas Pakistanis and the stopping and scanning of those traveling on tourist visas at the airport will be put to an end after today’s workshop. In addition, the future of Pakistan and its conditions were explained, which was exemplary. He said that the Law Minister openly discussed important issues, including military courts and general elections. President of the Pakistani American Press Association, Khurram Shahzad, said that after the Law Minister’s visit to the United States and meetings with Pakistani residents there, the concerns have reduced, which were observed among Overseas Pakistanis after the events of May 9. If the government wants to win the hearts of Overseas Pakistanis and seek their support, it needs to strengthen its relationship with them and address their issues and concerns. Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador, also addressed the ceremony, emphasizing that Pakistani American citizens are ambassadors of Pakistan throughout the United States. Their contributions and services to Pakistan are commendable. Pakistani American investments in various cities are vital for Pakistan’s economy, and the government values them. It should be noted that Pakistan’s Minister for Law and Justice, Nazeer Tarar, is currently on a visit to the United States, where he has held meetings with senior government officials. The program was moderated by Yousaf Chaudhry, the Secretary-General of the Pakistani American Press Association, and speeches were also delivered by President Khurram Shahzad and Secretary-General Saqib ul Islam.
