A 14-year-old died Wednesday at a hospital almost a week after police say he was shot in North Dallas.
The suspect is also 14 years old.
Officers responded to the 12700 block of Merit Drive, between Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and Banner Drive, about 6:45 p.m. on May 25 and determined a teenage male shot a boy the same age as him, according to police.
The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he died six days later, police said.
Officials declined to release the names of the victim and suspect, citing their ages.
Police said the suspect was in custody and is facing a murder charge. Other details — including a motive in the shooting — were not immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing.
