HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Parts of southeast Texas have a freeze warning until 9:00 a.m. Monday. The counties include: Trinity, Polk, San Jacinto, and northern Liberty. Temperatures may drop to around 29 to 32 degrees early Monday.
Spring begins Monday afternoon, but most of the afternoon will be in the 50s. We’ll finally see temperatures near 70 degrees by Tuesday afternoon.
How much longer is the cold weather hanging around?
Monday will be the last of the cold days. Monday morning will be the coldest with some areas northeast of Houston dipping below freezing.
Will my plants be okay in the cold air?
Coldest temperatures and freezing conditions are possible northeast of Harris County early Monday. Any cold-sensitive plants, like tropical varieties and newly planted tomato seedlings, will not enjoy the cold. It would be wise to protect them from the cold or bring them inside if possible before Monday morning if you live in areas northeast of Harris County.
Any more cold fronts this week?
Yes, but no strong cold fronts. A weak cold front could bring a few showers or storms Friday and another weak front may reach the area by next Sunday.
How warm will it get this week?
Temperatures will pump back up toward 80 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Another cold front is coming for us on Friday, but it does not look to be as chilly as the one we are currently experiencing.
