HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A Pacific front blew in a batch of dust from west Texas along with significantly drier air to most of southeast Texas Monday. By sunrise Tuesday, all that dry air will be gone as humidity and fog return from the Gulf of Mexico.
The return of the south breeze will also help clean the dust out of the air, but it won’t help us much with the oak tree pollen exploding all over Houston.
Sunshine poking through the clouds in the afternoon will push high temperatures back into the 80s for the final day of February.
How much longer will the warm weather last?
Most of Southeast Texas will see afternoon highs above 80 degrees through Thursday. A cold front will drop temperatures for Friday and the weekend, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s this weekend and mornings 40s and 50s.
Is there any rain coming?
The best chance for rain and storms this week is Thursday evening. While the strongest storms should stay well north of Houston, you should check the forecast because the cold front could come with a line of showers and thunderstorms Thursday evening. Gusty winds will be the most likely threat to accompany the front.
How is the weather looking for the Houston Rodeo this week?
We may see a few showers or storms late Thursday. Otherwise, mainly dry weather should be around for Houston Rodeo activities this week and through the weekend. Speaking of the weekend, the weather looks spectacular, with sunshine, highs in the 70s, and lows in the 40s!
