HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another spring-like day is on the way Tuesday complete with a chance for rain showers.
Temperatures Tuesday morning will only drop to near 60, well above the average low of 46. Stronger winds should prevent the widespread formation of fog, but low clouds will be present across most of Southeast Texas. Expect highs in the 70s Tuesday as sunshine breaks through the clouds.
Clouds will increase along with rain chances Tuesday afternoon and evening, but for now we just expect passing showers. Rain chances will climb even more Tuesday night as a cold front approaches.
How strong is the cold front Wednesday?
Strong enough to quickly drop temperatures from near 70 to the 50s for the rest of the day. A line of showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front, but because the front will push through closer to sunrise, the risk of severe weather is low. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible for several hours after the front passes your neighborhood.
Are more freezing temperatures possible?
Another cold front will move through Southeast Texas early Friday. This one will push temperatures into light freeze territory for Saturday morning.
What can we expect for the weekend?
After the cold start to Saturday, temperatures will warm to near 60 under a sunny sky. Sunday morning won’t be as chilly with lows in the upper 30s and low 40s. A steady southeast breeze on Sunday will boost highs into the mid 60s and bring back some clouds to mix in with the sunshine.
