After no top winners Friday, the next Mega Millions jackpot will be the third-largest in the game’s history.
The estimated prize for Tuesday’s drawing is $1.1 billion.
After no ticket matched all six numbers in Friday’s drawing, the jackpot increased by about $160 million. The winning numbers were 3, 20, 46, 59 and 63, plus the gold Mega Ball 13.
The jackpot has passed $700 million just three other times, and each of those prizes eventually surpassed $1 billion before a winner was drawn, according to the lottery. There have only been two larger pots — the game’s record $1.537 billion on Oct. 23, 2018, and $1.337 billion on July 29.
According to Mega Millions, players have a 1 in 24 chance of winning some sort of prize when they play, ranging from $2 to the jackpot.
