HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It’s definitely going to be a hot week but we do have a chance for some afternoon downpours each day.
Tuesday is starting off warm with temperatures in the upper 70s/low 80s. Temperatures are expected to rise back up to near 100 this afternoon. A few of us could see some relief though this afternoon as a few showers and storms pop up. Overall the rain chance is 20% but those of us that see rain, could get a pretty good downpour.
How about those rain chances for later this week?
The heat ridge will slide to our east and allow ample moisture and weak disturbances from the Gulf to flow our way. This should bring a more typical summer-time pattern with highs in the mid-90s and that small chance for a daily afternoon thundershower. The chance of rain rises to 30% Friday and Saturday as a weak front pushes extra moisture our way.
Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
Another large Saharan dust cloud is moving across the Atlantic Ocean, but there is also a large tropical wave emerging south of it. This kind of wave often paves the way for the next tropical wave to have room to develop. In other words, the tropics may start to get active again around the turn of the month.
