HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Thursday starts with a touch of fog and ends with record heat and ozone pollution problems for some Houston neighborhoods.
Slower winds Thursday morning will allow temperatures to fall closer to the average low of 67. The lack of wind under a mostly clear sky will also allow patches of fog to develop by sunrise, but nothing is expected to get too dense to impact travel.
During the afternoon, humidity levels will drop allowing highs to reach into record territory. The record to beat in Houston is 92 set in 1967. We are predicting Bush Airport will hit 94.
Ozone pollution could again reach unhealthy levels. Ozone is a lung irritant that can trigger asthma attacks in sensitive individuals.
When we could get more rain?
Our next chance of rain comes this weekend as a weak front pushes towards Southeast Texas. Deeper moisture coming in from Louisiana will get stirred up by this front and bring us a 20% hope for a shower or thunderstorm Saturday afternoon and evening.
What else can we expect for the weekend?
To put it simply, more near record heat. Lows will drop into the mid 70s while highs hold steady in the low 90s. Thankfully it looks like the clouds will cooperate to view the total lunar eclipse Sunday night.
