A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Saturday night in Mesquite, police said.
Mesquite police were called about 7 p.m. to the 2800 block of Clay Mathis Road where they found the 16-year-old lying on the ground with an apparent wound to the chest. Investigators later determined it was a gunshot wound.
The teen was taken to hospital and died. His name has not been released.
Police were initially called to the scene for reports of a motor vehicle accident, and a witness told police a person fell out of a vehicle.
It is unclear if the teen was shot while inside a vehicle, and police did not release information about what led to the gunfire or possible suspects Sunday.
