As of Tuesday, 12,344 Texans were hospitalized with the coronavirus, including more than 4,000 in North Texas, according to state data.
North Texas is poised to break hospitalization records, and Dallas County — which is on the threshold of 500,000 total COVID-19 cases — is expected to report four days of COVID-19 data Wednesday.
Here’s what you need to know about the COVID-19 in North Texas for today:
The region’s total was 4,110 COVID-19 hospitalizations Tuesday — just a few dozen patients from its January 2021 peak.
The site, which allows every household to request four rapid COVID-19 tests, was originally scheduled to launch Wednesday.
The county also reported 48 deaths from the virus in the past seven days.
The site in the Texas Rangers’ Sienna Lot M will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Feb. 8.
According to city of Dallas data, 50% of the sanitation department’s 460 workers say they’ve received COVID-19 vaccinations as of Jan. 7 — the lowest among any city department.
