Thursday will start out in the 30s and 40s, but the afternoon will be unseasonably warm and sunny with highs in the low 70s. Although winds will be light from the northwest around 10 mph or less, elevated fire weather will develop across West Texas.
The mild weather continues through Friday, followed by a sharp cool down into the weekend. Although the weekend is looking dry, a cold front will knock temperatures back down into the 40s on Saturday. It will be very windy with north winds around 20 to 30 mph, and peak gusts just under 50 mph. Make sure to secure any loose outdoor objects like lawn furniture and garbage cans.
Temperatures will drop to below freezing Sunday morning with highs in the 50s. Another warm up is expected throughout the first half of next week.
