Houston police are seeking answers in the shooting of 65-year-old John Davis, who tragically passed away months after sustaining injuries. The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. on December 10, 2023, in the 9800 block of W. Bellfort.
According to police reports, Davis was riding in the backseat of a vehicle driven by a friend who had picked him up from a store. While en route, they encountered an unrelated minor crash, during which they heard gunshots.
It became apparent that they were being fired upon. Upon inspection, Davis was found to have been shot and was unresponsive, while the driver also sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The driver rushed both himself and Davis to a nearby hospital, where Davis remained until his unfortunate passing on February 22 as a result of the gunshot wound.
Authorities are seeking assistance from the public in locating the suspect, described only as a Black man wearing a gray hoodie, who was seated in the back of a sedan. The make, model, and color of the sedan remain unknown.
