A recent report by Kaspersky revealed that 61% of Pakistani businesses consider data protection to be their primary IT security concern.
This statistic is significantly higher than the global average of 33%, reflecting the increasing emphasis on securing sensitive information.
The findings come from Kaspersky’s annual IT Security Economics report, which surveys IT and security professionals worldwide.
According to the report, data protection, along with challenges in securing complex technological environments and minimizing productivity losses, were identified as top concerns by many companies globally and in Pakistan.
Pakistani companies are particularly concerned about incidents of data leakage and device loss. These issues are linked to both internal and external factors that compromise security. Notably, 19% of Pakistani businesses also expressed concerns related to business process outsourcing.
The report further revealed that 38% of global businesses and 20% of Pakistani organizations are most worried about productivity losses and downtime caused by inefficient IT security. These disruptions were often caused by delays in detecting and responding to cyber threats.
Additionally, 33% of global respondents and 9% in Pakistan highlighted the importance of securing complex technological ecosystems and maintaining data connectivity.
Kaspersky’s Alexey Vovk emphasized the importance of adopting a holistic approach to information security, warning that even seemingly minor vulnerabilities, such as malicious links or flaws in contractors’ systems, could lead to devastating breaches.
