The 5th Islamabad Marathon 2025 witnessed a spectacular display of athleticism, with Pakistan Army’s Israr Khattak emerging victorious in the full marathon category.
Sohail Amir claimed the top spot in the half marathon, while Atiq ur Rehman triumphed in the 5-kilometer race. In the women’s marathon, an athlete from Norway secured the first position.
Over 3,000 participants, including international athletes, competed in various categories, drawing enthusiastic crowds of spectators.
The marathon, held against the scenic backdrop of the Margalla Hills, offered four categories and showcased the talents of both local and international athletes. Mohammad Ikram clinched victory in the 10-kilometer race, while Sohail Amir and Atiq ur Rehman excelled in their respective events. The winners expressed their joy and determination to represent Pakistan on the international stage, if given opportunities.
Foreign athletes praised Islamabad’s natural beauty and the well-organized event. A participant from the UK said, “This is my first time running in Pakistan, and the weather and atmosphere here are amazing.” Another athlete from Norway described the marathon as an excellent initiative for promoting fitness and camaraderie.
The event also saw participation from diplomats, including the UAE Ambassador Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi, who expressed his delight at the vibrant atmosphere of Islamabad and commended the well-facilitated event.
The 5th Islamabad Marathon was a resounding success, showcasing the capital’s charm and its athletes’ potential. The winners are hopeful their performances will open doors to international recognition.
