Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed optimism on Wednesday that the recently announced Iran-US ceasefire would be fully implemented without any provocation or destructive actions. In a statement on his official social media account, Erdogan referred to the recent tense situation in the region and described the ceasefire declaration as a positive and encouraging development after the conflict that had brought the entire region to the brink of war subsided on February 28.
Erdogan expressed satisfaction over the development, saying that the real test now was to see how effectively the ceasefire would be upheld in practice. He emphasized that it was essential to ensure full implementation of the agreement without giving any opportunity for provocation, conspiracy, or sabotage, as even a slight lapse could lead to renewed tensions.
Erdogan praised the efforts of all countries and personalities involved in securing the ceasefire, particularly Pakistan, which he described as a friendly and brotherly nation. He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts.
The Turkish president reiterated his commitment to promoting peace, dialogue, and cooperation in the region and globally. He stated that it was time for the people of the region to enjoy peace, stability, and prosperity after years of suffering from wars, conflicts, and human tragedies.
Erdogan reiterated that sustainable peace was not only in the interest of the region but also of the entire world and that all parties involved must demonstrate responsibility, patience, and sincerity to achieve it.
The Turkish leader expressed his determination to continue advocating for peace, dialogue, and cooperation on the regional and global stage and to support any initiatives that could lead to stability and prosperity.
