Karachi, Pakistan – In a ceremony held at the historic Khaliq Deena Hall, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) honored 12 prominent individuals from various fields for their outstanding contributions to the city. The event, titled “Tamgha-e-Karachi,” was attended by Mayor Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, who presented the award to cricketer Rashed Latif. The first “Tamgha-e-Karachi” award was given to Rashed Latif, who received a cash prize of PKR 5 million.
The KMC also paid tribute to late firefighter Farqan, who was killed in the Gul Plaza incident. Farqan’s sister received the award on his behalf. The KMC has announced that it will continue to honor the services of Karachi’s citizens next year as well, focusing on individuals who have not been recognized at the federal level.
The ceremony was part of a broader effort to recognize the contributions of Karachi’s citizens. The KMC has introduced a new award, “Tamgha-e-Karachi,” to acknowledge the outstanding services of individuals who have made a significant impact on the city.
The federal government has decided to close bakeries, restaurants, and wedding halls at 10 pm, effective April 7, following a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The decision was taken to conserve energy and reduce the demand for petroleum products.
