Iranian forces have reportedly captured an American pilot, according to unconfirmed reports by Iranian news agency Tasnim. The pilot allegedly parachuted into Iranian airspace after the downing of an F-35 fighter jet, according to sources.
Media reports indicate that a new F-35 fighter jet, the “Lightning II,” successfully targeted an Iranian military system, prompting US authorities to launch an investigation into the matter. A representative of the Iranian news agency in Kermanshah province alleged that the pilot landed in Iran after ejecting from the plane, which was downed by the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Sources suggest that US forces initially believed the pilot to be alive, prompting a rescue operation to retrieve him. However, some reports indicate that the pilot may have been taken into custody by Iranian forces. Iranian authorities have vowed to provide more information on the matter in due course, although the incident has yet to be confirmed by independent sources.
In a separate development, the IRGC claimed to have downed a second US F-35 fighter jet in central Iran using its advanced air defense system. The jet, reportedly belonging to the Royal Air Force’s (RAF) Leeming Flight, crashed and was completely destroyed.
Iran has responded to US President Donald Trump’s aggressive rhetoric, deeming his words to be an insult to the Iranian people. Trump has threatened to impose sanctions on Iran, stating that the country’s oil supply could be targeted, and that Americans could see infrastructure projects, such as bridges and power plants, destroyed.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti authorities have confirmed attacks on the country’s oil, finance, and electricity ministries, as well as two water desalination plants. The global aerospace industry is reportedly under pressure due to the ongoing conflict in the region, with airlines increasing ticket prices worldwide.
Iran has denied reports that a relative of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, was arrested in the US. The Iranian Emergency Services have claimed to have quickly brought the situation under control, with no casualties reported, and damage assessed at the crash site.
In a separate incident, the Israeli parliament’s speaker, Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, has shared an image of the downed US plane. US President Donald Trump has announced that the US is working to rescue an injured and brave US Air Force officer who was shot down in Iran’s mountains.
According to the UAE’s Ministry of Defense, the country’s air defense system has destroyed nine ballistic missiles and one cruise missile in the past 24 hours. Israeli security officials have claimed that Israeli intelligence assisted the US in its mission to rescue the pilot from Iran.
Israeli security officials have confirmed that two Israeli drone manufacturers and chemical factories have been hit by Iranian missiles, causing significant damage. A social media account linked to the Indian government has made baseless accusations against Pakistani state institutions, while Russian TV has released footage of a suspected helicopter crash at the site where the pilot was last seen.
