Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf has been facing criticism following Lahore Qalandars’ mixed performance in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11. However, Rauf remains undeterred and has expressed his confidence in the team’s abilities.
In an interview with Geo News, Rauf stated, “If one match goes badly, it doesn’t mean you’ve become a bad bowler. However, people start saying that you’re finished, do this, do that. Everyone has their own opinion, but we have faith in ourselves and play accordingly.”
Rauf emphasized that the conditions of the ground and the boundaries are designed to facilitate high-scoring matches, and as a result, both teams’ bowlers will face the brunt of the runs. He noted that it’s only a few bowlers who won’t concede runs, while the rest will.
The Pakistani cricketer also pointed out that modern cricket demands versatility from bowlers, and he’s working on improving his own skills, particularly in death overs. Rauf stated, “The more variety you can offer, the better it is. We’re still in the early stages of the league, and I’m trying to improve my skills, especially in death overs, to contribute to the team’s success.”
Meanwhile, Rauf’s teammate Yasser Khan highlighted the positive team dynamics within the Lahore Qalandars, stating that seniors and juniors are working together and supporting each other. Rauf added that he takes criticism positively, saying, “If people are criticizing you, it means they have high expectations from you. When you can’t meet those expectations, people start talking. Fans are emotional, and they can’t handle it when their team doesn’t perform well.”
Rauf expressed his gratitude to the Lahore Qalandars management for believing in him, saying, “It’s a blessing to be a part of the same team for eight editions. Having a few key players in the team provides an opportunity for young players to learn and develop their skills.”
