Yuvraj Singh, a former all-rounder of the Indian cricket team, has publicly expressed his remorse towards MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev for the first time in response to his father Yograj Singh’s contentious remarks. According to Indian media, Yuvraj made this statement in a teaser for a podcast, saying that he wants to apologize to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
When asked during the podcast if he felt bad about Dhoni’s statements after listening to his father’s interviews, Yuvraj hinted that he had explicitly told his father that such behavior was not acceptable. It is worth noting that Yuvraj Singh was a part of the Indian team during a crucial period when Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, and Zaheer Khan were prominent players. Yuvraj played a key role in India’s two major successes, the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup.
During this time, MS Dhoni was the team’s consistent captain, which meant Yuvraj never got the opportunity to lead the team for a long period. Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh, has repeatedly criticized MS Dhoni, saying that he was responsible for his son’s career being ruined. Yograj Singh has made several public statements, calling MS Dhoni the reason behind Yuvraj’s struggles in the team.
Yuvraj’s father has also been in the news for his contentious remarks, including a 2025 YouTube interview where he claimed that he was severely angry with Kapil Dev after being removed from the team in the 1980s and even threatened him at his home. Yograj Singh has also criticized several former Indian captains and players, saying that poor leadership has harmed Indian cricket.
