The Sindh Election Commission has announced the schedule for local body elections in 16 districts of the province. According to the spokesperson of the Election Commission, the by-elections for 45 vacant seats in the local bodies of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro, Matiari, Dadu, Noshero Feroze, Sanghar, Ghotki, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Tando Jam, Jacobabad, Kamber Shahdadkot, and Shikarpur will be held soon.
According to the schedule, the returning officers will issue public notices on April 2, while nomination papers can be received and submitted from April 6 to 8. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from April 13 to 15, and the initial list of candidates will be published on April 16. The election commission said that the polls for 45 vacant seats will be held on May 17 from 8 am to 5 pm without any break.
The spokesperson of the Election Commission said that the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by April 30. The final list of candidates will be published on May 4, and the election symbols will be allocated on the same day.
In a related development, the Sindh government has allocated Rs 3 billion for 57 health schemes of the Health Department for the third quarter of the current financial year.
