Iran War: European Council President Meets with Iranian President, Urges Caution
In a bid to reduce tensions in the Middle East, European Council President Antonio Costa held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday. Costa expressed his concerns about the current situation in the region, calling it “extremely dangerous.” He urged both sides to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to resolve their differences peacefully.
During the conversation, Costa emphasized the importance of ensuring the safe passage of international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, respecting international law, and protecting civilians and critical infrastructure. He also called for an end to attacks on countries in the region and the pursuit of diplomatic solutions.
The European Union has offered to assist in finding a sustainable solution to reduce tensions in the region. Meanwhile, French Navy Chief Admiral Pierre Vandier said that the number of Chinese vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz is not sufficient to restore normal traffic flow.
Jordan has provided military assistance to Israel in the past, including helping to destroy Iranian drones and missiles. Mohamed al-Masri, a Jordanian expert, said that the US has clearly shifted its goals in the conflict, as it has failed to achieve significant victories on the battlefield.
US President Donald Trump is set to deliver a speech on the Iran conflict at 6:00 AM local time on Tuesday. According to reports, several world leaders have discussed the Iran conflict in private meetings.
