The 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has witnessed a controversy, with a security breach incident involving cricket legend Shahid Afridi and his teammate, Sikander Raza. According to a letter written by Director General (DG) Operations, Faisal Kamran, to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL administration, the incident occurred when Afridi and Raza allegedly breached the security protocol by entering the hotel room of four guests and staying there for almost two hours.
In response to the incident, the management of the PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars, has imposed a fine of PKR 10 million on their captain, Shahid Afridi. This move comes after the franchise had already issued a notice to fast bowler, Nasim Shah, over disciplinary issues. Shah had submitted a response to the Disciplinary Committee and appeared before it.
Sources close to the matter claim that match referee, Roshan Mahmoon, conducted the hearing and will now make a decision based on the testimony of Fakhar Zaman. The head of the Women’s Committee has also accused the Federation’s President of harassment, obstruction, and intimidation.
Meanwhile, the Optics Championship quarterfinal match has improved Noor Zaman’s ranking to third place.
