Varun Dhawan, a renowned Bollywood actor, has recently shared a heart-wrenching story about his daughter Lara’s health issues, urging parents to be more vigilant about their children’s development. In a recent podcast, the 38-year-old actor revealed that Lara, his 2-year-old daughter, was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), a condition that affects the formation of the hip joint.
Varun Dhawan and his wife Natasha Dalal welcomed Lara in June 2024, and soon after, they noticed that their daughter was not developing normally. Varun revealed that Lara was diagnosed with DDH when she was around 18 months old. The condition causes the hip joint to form improperly, leading to difficulties in walking and moving. Varun highlighted that the treatment for DDH is more effective when administered at birth, but in India, this facility is not readily available. However, he praised the doctors in India for their expertise in treating the condition.
Fortunately, Lara did not require surgery, and through a non-invasive procedure, her hip was successfully put back into place. However, she had to spend around 6 months in a cast, which is a challenging experience for any child. Varun shared that Lara underwent anesthesia and had the cast applied, and when she woke up, she was already in a full cast. The cast has since been removed, and Lara is recovering well. Varun has expressed his desire to write a book about their experience.
This is not the first time Varun has faced injuries while shooting for a film. He has been injured four times, and he is currently working on his next project. Varun emphasized the importance of parents being mindful of their children’s development, particularly in terms of walking, running, and movement. He urged parents to seek medical attention if they notice any unusual behavior in their children.
Varun Dhawan has been open about his daughter’s health issues, sharing the story to raise awareness about DDH and the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment. He has urged parents to be proactive in monitoring their children’s development and to seek medical attention if they notice any signs of this condition.
The story of Varun Dhawan and his daughter Lara has resonated with many parents and caregivers, highlighting the importance of vigilance and awareness in preventing and treating DDH.
