The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has begun, with the opening match scheduled to take place in Lahore tonight. However, the city is witnessing a high alert security situation, with fans being barred from entering the stadium due to sensitive circumstances. According to DIG Operations Lahore, Faisal Kamran, the stadium and its surroundings have been cordoned off with security barriers for the safety of players, officials, and spectators.
A total of over 6,000 officers and jawans have been deployed to ensure the security of the players, officials, and spectators. The PSL 11 matches will be broadcast live on Pakistan’s first sports channel, Geo Super, and the digital app, Mico.
In a separate statement, spokesperson Saif City said that more than 950 advanced cameras are continuously monitoring the city, and that the security system has been made more effective with the help of facial recognition, artificial intelligence, and drones. The drones are being used to monitor the stadium, players’ routes, hotels, and the airport.
It is worth mentioning that the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) began today evening at 7 pm. The opening match will feature the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, facing off against the new team, Hyderabad Kings.
