Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association (PAPPOA) has written a letter to the Minister of Petroleum, Ali Muhammad Khan, requesting an urgent meeting to discuss pressing issues affecting the petroleum sector. The letter, sent on March 6, has yet to receive a response. The association has expressed concerns regarding the sector’s operations, financial difficulties, prices, and sudden policy changes.
PAPPOA has urged the government to involve industry stakeholders in policy-making processes, citing the pressing issues faced by the 14,000 to 15,000 petrol pump owners across the country. The association has threatened to consider shutting down petrol pumps nationwide if their demands are not met, which would likely lead to a severe fuel crisis in Pakistan.
The responsibility for a potential crisis, according to the association, lies with the Ministry of Petroleum. A joint council comprising parliamentarians from around the world, Parliamentarians for Global Action, has emphasized the importance of joint efforts for peace and stability, particularly in Pakistan and Egypt.
