In a significant development, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss food security-related matters. During the meeting, the prime minister directed the formation of a comprehensive plan to reorganize the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and transform it into a premier research institution for agriculture and food security. The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ismail Dar, Ahamd Cheema, Rana Tanvir, Musadik Malik, PM’s advisors Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Bajwa, and special assistants to the PM, Haroon Akhtar and Tariq Bajwa.
According to sources, the federal government has decided to extend a one-month ban on Indian aircraft registered in India, and Pakistani airspace will remain closed for Indian flights until April 24. The DG ISPR stated that the Afghan Taliban used drones against Pakistan, which were supplied by India.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a telephonic conversation with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah. The prime minister extended Eid greetings to the crown prince, and both leaders exchanged warm wishes on the occasion.
In a major operation to counter terrorism, the Islamabad police arrested several suspects in connection with a case of attempted murder, robbery, and land grabbing. The operation is still underway, and the police have assured that all available resources will be employed to apprehend the culprits.
