Islamabad, Pakistan – In a significant development, a petition related to declaring the date for Eid-al-Fitr moon sighting has been filed with the Islamabad High Court. The court has scheduled a hearing for the petition, which will be heard by Chief Justice Sardar Tariq Masood.
The petitioner, a citizen, has requested the court to direct the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to declare the Eid-al-Fitr moon sighting date at the earliest. The petitioner has argued that delaying the moon sighting announcement leads to people reading Taraweeh prayers, causing inconvenience. Moreover, a sudden rush in markets occurs due to the delay in announcing the moon sighting date.
To maintain law and order, the petitioner has requested the administration to take necessary measures. The petitioner has also requested the court to direct the closure of all markets, excluding Eid shopping centers, to prevent any unrest.
