Iranian Football Federation President Mehdi Taj stated that negotiations are ongoing to move matches from the US to Mexico. Taj emphasized that when former US President Donald Trump said Iran’s team should not come to the US, Iran decided not to participate, and therefore, the matches should be relocated.
This comes after Trump expressed concerns over Iran’s team security in the US. FIFA will face logistical challenges if it agrees to relocate matches outside the US. The British media believes that FIFA is unlikely to accept Iran’s request. In contrast, FIFA stated that it is in contact with all member countries regarding the World Cup.
