Karachi, Pakistan – In a significant operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh Police, in collaboration with other sensitive agencies, arrested a key member of the banned militant organization, Fidayeen-e-Islam. The arrested individual, identified as Amjad, was included in the Red Book and had connections with the militant group. According to CTD Director-General Athar Mehsud, Amjad had received training in militant activities in a neighboring country in 2022.
The CTD official stated that Amjad was involved in providing information to the organization about the reconnaissance of sensitive targets, including the Jafer Express train, which was targeted by the militant group in the past. Amjad was also found to be involved in the target killing of a police officer in Malir.
The operation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend other members of the militant group. The CTD has been conducting operations to curb the activities of the Fidayeen-e-Islam, which has been responsible for several terrorist attacks in the country.
The news comes as the police are also dealing with the aftermath of the Lyari gang war, in which several cases have been registered against the gang’s leader, Azizullah Baloch. The case was heard in court, and the accused’s request for bail was rejected for the second time.
In other news, the Pakistan government has announced that it will open a dialogue with the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, on Eid-al-Fitr. The move comes as the government is engaged in a fact-finding mission to gather evidence and records of the PTI’s activities.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has declared the 20th November 2023 decision of the Federal Service Tribunal as null and void. The court stated that the decision was not in line with the definition of a civil servant.
The Pakistan Ulema Council has welcomed the decision of the Islamic, Arab, and Foreign Ministers to hold a meeting to discuss the issues affecting the Islamic world.
In a separate incident, the father of a TikTok star and social media influencer, Sana Yousuf, recorded a statement in court regarding the murder of his daughter. The case is ongoing, and the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crime.
The DG ISPR has also stated that the Afghan Taliban has used drones against Pakistan, which were supplied by India. The move has been condemned by the Pakistan government, which has announced a ban on Indian airlines operating in Pakistan for the next month.
The ban comes as a response to the Indian government’s decision to restrict the operations of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in India. The ban will remain in place until 24th April.
