Islamabad, Pakistan – In a joint statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have commended the Pakistan security forces for their successful operation against the Khawarij terrorists in Lakki Marwat. The operation resulted in the killing of five terrorists.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation for the security forces’ efforts in eliminating the terrorists and stated that they are committed to eradicating all forms of terrorism from the country. He also emphasized that the entire nation stands with the Pakistan military in its war against terrorism.
President Zardari condemned the Khawarij terrorists for their attempts to destabilize the country’s peace and said that the nation is united against them. He added that the government is determined to eliminate terrorism and is working closely with its security forces to achieve this goal.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that a telephonic conversation took place between Prime Minister Sharif and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled. Both leaders exchanged Eid greetings and wished each other a happy Eid al-Fitr.
The Islamabad High Court has taken cognizance of a citizen’s request to announce the Eid moon sighting quickly. The court has directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to submit a report.
