Iran’s Kharg Island has continued to load crude oil onto tankers despite the recent US attack on the island, as per a report by TankerTrackers, a platform that monitors the movement of naval vessels. The US Senate has stated that the US military conducted a large-scale operation on Kharg Island on the night of the attack, destroying Iranian naval facilities equipped with mines.
According to the report, crude oil loading on tankers at Iran’s Kharg Island has continued unabated, with seven tankers waiting to load crude oil, and five tankers already loaded. TankerTrackers have stated that two more tankers are expected to arrive at the island to load crude oil. It is worth noting that the US had launched a series of attacks on Iranian targets on March 10.
Kharg Island is located in the Persian Gulf, near the Iranian coast, and is approximately five miles long. It is considered the main hub for Iran’s oil exports, with around 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports passing through the island.
