Pakistan’s anti-graft body, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), has arrested the owner of a private company, Shir Ali, in connection with the Kohistan Mall scandal. The NAB has submitted the accused to the Accountability Court, where the judge, Muhammad Zafar, has ordered a 14-day judicial remand for the accused.
The NAB investigation officer presented evidence in court that Shir Ali, the owner of the private company, had transferred Rs. 460 million to the account of the main accused, Qaiser Iqbal. The records show that Shir Ali had transferred the money to Qaiser Iqbal’s account, and had Rs. 130 million in his own account. Shir Ali had also transferred the remaining amount to the accounts of two other accused, Muzammil and Anwar Ali.
The NAB investigation officer further stated that Shir Ali had received an additional Rs. 510 million in bribes from co-accused Faizullah Ahmed. The investigation also revealed that Shir Ali had purchased a residential house in Manshera during the investigation.
The NAB investigation officer concluded that the investigation had been completed, and no further physical remand was necessary. However, the judge ordered a 14-day judicial remand for the accused.
