Instead, he claimed that he had been waiting for this moment for the past 20 years. Abdullah was attending the wedding ceremony when a person fired at him from close range with a pistol. The police officials stated that the assailant claimed this was a personal agenda, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motives and background of the attacker.
The police have recovered a pistol from the assailant’s possession and, during initial interrogation, he claimed to be the chairman of an unknown organization, ‘Jagran Manch’. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed concern over the incident, questioning how the attacker was able to reach so close to his father despite the Z+ security cover. The police are investigating the incident and possible security lapses.
