The Islamabad High Court has announced a 4-day working week to conserve energy, with effect from today. According to the notification, the court will remain open from Monday to Thursday, while the staff will be available on WhatsApp during holidays. The registrar of the Islamabad High Court has issued a notification stating that the court will adopt austerity measures to save energy, with immediate effect.
The court will operate at 50% capacity, and the judicial staff will not be allowed to leave their stations without written permission from the authorized authority. The registrar and the IT staff will work from home on a weekly rotation basis. The district courts in Islamabad will function on a full capacity from Monday to Thursday.
Additionally, the notification states that the district judiciary will have duty judges available on Fridays and Saturdays to deal with cases, with a reduced staff presence. The government cars will be operated at 50% capacity, while those in the district judiciary will have a 25% reduction in fuel. The judges of the high court and the district judiciary will not be provided with security cars within the Islamabad limits.
Wherever possible, lawyers will be allowed to appear via video link. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has taken steps to ensure the accuracy and stability of the national identity system.
