Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja has stated that Pakistani women have suffered the most for the movement, with women being deliberately targeted and facing brutalities. Addressing a gathering in Lahore on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Salman Akram Raja said that dozens of women including Kanwal Shauzab, Alia Hamza, Zartaj Gul, and Bushra Bibi have been punished. Bushra Bibi, he added, has been in jail for over a year and is being held captive only because she is the wife of PTI’s founder.
He also said that today marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Zil Shah, whose killer is still on the loose and his loved ones are suffering. Salman Akram Raja stated that the country is plagued by injustices, fake trials, and unjust sentencing, and that the system of oppression has been in place for 78 years.
He added that the dignity of Imran Khan’s vote on February 8 was disrespected, and that PTI will bring true freedom to the 250 million people of Pakistan.
