India’s T20 World Cup 2026 title win under coach Gautam Gambhir’s guidance has marked a historic victory for the team. New Zealand’s innings were marked by a spectacular six off a 14th over bowled by Rachin Ravindra by Sanju Samson, securing India’s fourth record.
In response, New Zealand was bowled out for 159 runs, with Jasprit Bumrah taking four wickets and Aksar Patel taking three wickets. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav praised Coach Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, stating that their goal has always been to win the team, and the next target is to win the gold medal in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the team of the tournament for T20 World Cup 2026, with Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi topping the list. However, former South African cricketer Graeme Kirsten has been appointed as the head coach of the Sri Lankan cricket team.
Following India’s win, the city of Ahmedabad, where the final match was held, has been declared a no-vehicle zone, with 60% of government vehicles being withdrawn.
