However, Larijani responded by stating that if the US uses its bases to attack Iran, the country has the right to defend itself. He also emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is not closed, but the ongoing conflict has affected the situation, and the US will have to pay the price for its actions. On the other hand, Iranian Assembly member Ayatollah Mojtaba Zolnour stated that the Assembly of Experts’ meeting will take place within a day, during which a new Supreme Leader will be elected.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Iran has not initiated the conflict, but has taken countermeasures against the US attacks. According to Araghchi, Iranian operations have targeted American military bases, facilities, and assets in the region. Araghchi also emphasized that the Iranian people will not allow foreign interference in the election of the new Supreme Leader.
