The Punjab government has reassured the public that there is an adequate supply of petroleum products in the province, urging people not to panic over rumors of a shortage. A spokesperson for the Punjab government stated that the operation against petroleum product hoarders and profiteers has been initiated.
The spokesperson further warned that those involved in artificially creating a shortage of petroleum products will face severe consequences. According to the spokesperson, petrol pumps involved in the artificial shortage will be sealed and their licenses revoked.
The Fire Brigade has confirmed that a team has been dispatched to tackle the situation. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also decided to take precautions in the use of petroleum products. Sources revealed that the government has recommended introducing a hybrid system in schools and academies, increasing the use of public transportation, and extending the operating hours of the orange line, metro bus service.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the committee to present practical recommendations within the next 48 hours, ensuring that the burden on the public is minimized and public relief is given priority. A statement issued by the University of Urdu announced that the university will be on a semester break starting from March 16.
In a statement, Vice Chancellor Dr. Tahir Ashrafi expressed the university’s opposition to the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran. Karachi University has decided to hold online classes for the morning sessions. The statement also mentioned that the meeting discussed the security situation created by the Iranian drone and missile attacks.
According to sources, Iran has announced that the US and Israel have not attacked countries that refused to allow them to use their airspace for the attack on Iran. Israeli Defense Minister Benjamin Gantz stated that Lebanon should follow Israel’s instructions before any further action is taken. The UAE’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed that the country’s defense system has intercepted 15 ballistic missiles and 119 drones on the same day.
The ongoing war in the Middle East has compelled UAE traders to sell gold at concessional rates due to the extensive conflict.
