Punjab’s Minister of Information, Mian Ammar Bukhari, has stated that Maryam Nawaz is not just writing slogans, but also taking concrete steps to alleviate the suffering of the people. In a press conference held in Lahore, Minister Bukhari and Provincial Minister for Local Government, Zeshan Rafiq, briefed the media on the relief measures being taken by the provincial government. According to Bukhari, the government has set up 350 convenience stores across Punjab, with over 70% of ration cards being used in these markets.
Bukhari stated that the Punjab government is working under the instructions of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to provide relief to the people. In addition to the convenience stores, the government has announced plans to distribute 2,265 kilometers of sewerage lines across the province. Furthermore, 130 new disposal stations will be built, and underground water tanks will be constructed to store rainwater.
The government has also announced plans to establish 328 West Water Treatment Plants in the province, which will help improve sanitation and water quality in rural areas. In a separate development, the Karachi government has announced that classes will be conducted online in the morning shifts at the University of Karachi.
The meeting also discussed the security situation in the wake of Iranian drone and missile attacks. Sources have revealed that Iran is being affected by the war’s impact on the country’s oil and gas systems. The Punjab government has assured the public that there is a sufficient stockpile of petroleum products in the province, and people should not believe rumors.
In a related development, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Amjad Ali Shah, has announced the sentencing of 47 accused advertisers to 10-10 years in prison and a fine of 5-5 lakh rupees each. The accused were involved in various terrorist activities and were wanted by security forces.
Meanwhile, the road connecting the Jinnah Bridge to the PIDC in Karachi has been opened for small traffic. The city of Karachi is expected to experience clear skies and dry weather over the next 24 hours.
