In a spectacular and well-organized event, the annual Iftar Dinner in Houston, USA, attracted over 2,000 participants, marking it as the largest Iftar dinner of its kind in the country. This year’s event was a collaborative effort between Muslim Sister Cities, Abu Dhabi, Baku, Baghdad, Istanbul, and Karachi, along with Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Ismaili Council, BORAH Jamaat, and over 50 other organizations.
More than 200 volunteers were involved in the event’s organization, with coordinator Sa’id Sheikh expressing his gratitude to all volunteers for their hard work and dedication, which made this Iftar dinner a huge success. The event was attended by consuls general from over 20 countries and various elected officials, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the World Affairs Council and Medical Bridges.
U.S. Congressman Al Green, a regular attendee of the event, praised the Iftar dinner as an important milestone for the Muslim community, saying it brings people together and promotes interfaith harmony and cultural diversity, which are the true spirit of the American society. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, in his message, acknowledged the city’s appreciation for the Muslim community’s contributions and noted that this event has strengthened community unity and harmony.
On this occasion, Iftar dinner coordinator Sa’id Sheikh thanked Seyyed Jawed Anwar, who has been the Grand Sponsor of the event for the past 15 years, as well as all other organizations and volunteers who played a crucial role in making this event a success.
Noted Islamic scholar Dr. Imam Muhammad Hakeem delivered a speech on the spirituality and message of Ramadan. Turkish imam Mustafa Yigit led the azan and recited the Quran, while renowned Pakistani Qari Sayyid Sadaqat Ali also recited the Quran on the occasion. Mufi Abdul Sattar Qadri Siddiqui led the Maghrib prayers.
Participants praised the event’s organizers and production team for their cooperation and thanked them for making the event a success. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its defense system intercepted 15 ballistic missiles and 119 drones on the same day. The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that the victims belonged to the same family. According to foreign news agencies, India has seen a significant increase in fuel reserves. If offered, India will consider purchasing LNG from Russia. The Israeli Defense Minister said that the Lebanese government should follow their instructions before further actions.
